Quantomata are probabilistic cellular automata. They are variations on the classic Conway’s Game Of Life, with a quantum-mechanical twist. I built the first version of this ‘zero-player’ game on the PICO-8 platform in 2024 and called it ‘A Game of Quantum Life’. In 2026 I made an iOS app called ‘Quantomaton’ based on the same idea, but with a larger grid, more music options and more colours.
